AlphaLink will be first to accomplish continuous operation for 5 years with a payload of approx. 450 kg.* Due to the large wingspan of the joint aircraft, solar panels can be used to provide AlphaLink with sufficient power to be operated 24/7. Considering currently available solar technology, a continuous operation of up to 1 year can be achieved, including a wide range of areas world wide. The most recent AlphaLink model will allow an operation of up to 100 days and a payload of 24kg. This exceeds the industry benchmark by more than 10% regarding both dimensions.
* This goal was initially formulated by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of the U.S. Department of Defense in the Vulture Program.
